Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Lore for Learning (KVELL), a Deemed to be University established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, is located in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, India.
KVELL offers a wide range of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Integrated, and Research programmes across various disciplines. Its flexible, outcome-based curriculum fosters critical thinking, creativity, interdisciplinary learning, and holistic development.

The Trust
Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust is dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of higher education, particularly professional education, to the rural, poor, and marginalized sections of students. Established in 1993 with the sole aim of imparting quality technical and professional education to all, the Trust is implementing its vision of quality education for societal uplift through its various colleges, located across two different campuses. The lives of thousands of students, including a sizeable number from socially, economically, and geographically marginalized sections of society, have been transformed by the Trust-run institutions.

Aims and Objectives of the Sponsoring Trust
1. Provide for higher education leading to excellence and innovations in Engineering, Health and Life Sciences, Mathematical, Physical, Chemical and Social Sciences, Culture, Heritage, Arts and Traditional Knowledge at undergraduate, post-graduate, and research degree levels, fully conforming to the concept of a University as envisaged in NEP 2020.
2.Offer interdisciplinary innovative courses to address the emerging areas at the interface of two or three disciplines and engage in inter-disciplinary /multidisciplinary/trans-disciplinary teaching and research in addition to offering domainspecific programs, in an integrated way to make students knowledgeable, skill ful and compassionate to serve the society with dedication.
3. Provide flexible and innovative learning outcome-based curriculum which includes credit-based courses and projects in the areas of community engagement and service, environmental education, value-based education, etc., in addition to domain specific courses.
4. Recognize, identify and foster the unique capabilities of each student, by sensitizing teachers as well as parents to promote each student’s holistic development by choice of courses of his/her own interest by adopting choice-based credit system and provide exit options at different stages as visioned in NEP 2020, so that no student is left out.
5.Provide multi-disciplinary and a holistic education in the faculties of science, engineering, technology, social sciences, arts, humanities, sports and other disciplines with high-quality teaching and research, well-recognized both nationally and globally.
6. Drive innovation through interdisciplinary translational research for people-centered outcome by establishing institutional structures such as cross-disciplinary research centers and thematic networks across departments/faculties and also by setting up start-up incubation centers, technology development centers, centers in frontier areas of research, greater industry-academic linkages and global networks.
7. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and contribute for social transformation through socially responsive teaching, learning, research, and fieldwork.
8. Strengthen the research ecosystem by establishing Research and Development Cell (RDC) and international research advisory board for achieving IPR wealth to lead the nation in knowledge industry.
9. Be an active partner of the national initiative to transform higher education by adopting the provisions of NEP 2020.

To educate and empower a diverse student body to lead inspired lives by fostering intellectual achievement and personal growth, while providing state-of-the-art infrastructure that extends quality education to the regionally, socially, and economically unreached.
History
The Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust initially took up the baton to spread education in the under-privileged areas of Pudukottai. Empowered with a vision to contribute to nation building. Shri. S. Regupathy. The foundation of their maiden venture namely, the J J College of Arts and Science at Pudukottai was laid. The Trust later on, decided to spread its wing and accordingly in 2001, the Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology was established in the green environment at Chengalpattu, away from the din of the metropolis. Sprawled in a 65 acre campus on the GST Road it is home to a community that embraces diversity and nurtures individual growth. Inspired by the success, in terms of spreading education and establishing social sustainability, the Trust came up with opening of Dental, Medical and Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences Colleges.

With almost two decades of experience delivering educational services, the Education Trust exists solely to provide education for public benefit. Teaching and learning are the essence of what it does and the Trust employs more than 1,000 staff around the State, designing and delivering services. The staff supports educational reform, teach, advise, research and train. It believes in the power of education to help individuals to fulfill their potential and benefit society. It has the prime objective of promoting higher and technical education. It believes that education is the single most powerful intervention for transforming lives. Knowledge and skills impact not only earnings, but self-esteem; not only the standard of living, but how life is lived. By bringing quality education to more people, the Trust endeavors is help in building a more tolerant, healthy, just, and connected society. It is the aim of the Trust to participate in the task of inculcating necessary knowledge, skills and creative attitudes and values among the youth of the country to contribute more effectively towards establishing an equitable social-economic and secular ideal of the nation.

Distinctiveness
Encouraged by the version presented in the New Education Policy, 2020, the KVELL would be a large multidisciplinary University as envisaged in NEP 2020 and which according to the document, ‘is thus the highest recommendation of this policy regarding the structure of higher education.’(para 10.2 of NEP 2020)

In the Forefront of Empowering the socially, economically and geographically marginalized community.
Education enables people to build up their capabilities, there by broadening their entitlements. Facilitating higher education is one of the most important influencing factors for the all-around development of any nation, especially in economic, physical, social, cultural, ethnical and spiritual fields. Despite its importance, the quality of education in rural areas of India (representing nearly 65% of the Indian population)has been a concern for several decades. Enhancing the quality of education in rural areas of India is crucial to bridge the educational and digital divide between the urban and rural India. National Education Policy (NEP 2020) identifies lack of knowledge of higher education opportunities, economic opportunity, cost of pursuing higher education, financial constraints, admission processes, geographical and language as barriers to entry into higher education. The new education policy calls for enhancing access by establishing more high-quality HEIs in rural areas. The policy calls on to conduct outreach on higher education opportunities and scholarships and make admissions processes more inclusive.
KVELL has a vision to be distinct in serving the rural, unreached, underrepresented, socially and economically backward population, and women of the country by promoting the value-based experiential education and research driven health care. KVELL will strengthen the Community Academic Partnership through community-oriented education in health science, engineering, commerce, arts and culture.
KVELL will be distinct in empowering rural villages, especially the women with the support and guidance from all the constituent higher educational institutes. The medicine, dentistry and nursing programs provide distinct innovative and integrated primary healthcare with the unique models of Female Health Volunteers (FHV), Arogya Mitra, Arogya Bank, Mobile Medical Unit and Rural Health Centres, secondary and tertiary health care to them as well through our state-of-art tertiary care hospital to a network of over 350 villages for health care. Students will receive experiential learning by providing services at the community level through various activities such as old age home visit, industrial visit, school visit, and participating in various multi-diagnostic camps. The dental students are providing dental care to the unreached inmates of various prisons in the state.
KVELL will be distinct in its Programs that will focus on activities to contribute to the overall economic growth and increased employment opportunities in the region through both indirect and direct economic development activities in the health, education, arts and culture, natural resources and infrastructure sectors. KVELL will:
· Offer competency-based education (CBE) programs to non-traditional adult learners in the region and beyond to prepare them for employment or advancement in current and future job markets.
· Create and operate a university consortium that provides technical assistance and research expertise to local and regional governments and to economic development groups and alliances.
· Partner with local and state agencies to harness state and central funds for economic and workforce development.
· Engage the university community in supporting revitalization, business development, workforce development, community support programs and recreation and tourism opportunities of the region.
· Foster literacy and adult education programs; competency-based and online program options; interdisciplinary team teaching; and degree and certificate options in a variety of disciplines.
· In the area of economic development and diversification, will help build entrepreneurial and technology support; foster incubators, guidance on investment strategies and funds; partner with other institutions of higher education for initiatives develop partnerships, cooperatives and internships; and contribute to overall workforce development.
· In the area of health and wellness, including physical, oral and behavioral health prevention and treatment, assist with issues related to preventive health education, homecare for the aging population, childcare and diet and nutrition; and contribute to the efforts of community organizations. Develop a think tank/research hub/ for community-based research and needs assessments.
KVELL will be a distinct model for Fostering Interdisciplinary translational research addressing the need of the community.

Research Activities and Zeal for Research and Development
The institutions established by the Trust continue to stretch themselves by setting ambitious academic goals and also confirm their position as one of the leading educational institutions as gauged by the teaching excellence and student satisfaction. They aim to focus on strengthening the research endeavor and to increase the number of staff actively engaged in research activity. This ambition will only be achieved by ensuring a deep link between thematic priorities in research and teaching mission; addressing issues of global relevance but with meaningful local impact on the social, economic and cultural life of the Nation. Faculty members of different Departments have published several books: KIMS faculty has published 12 books and that of KVCN has published 2; 288 Researches paper have been National and published in 317 International Journals from KIMS, KIDS has published, 186 papers is National and 83 papers in International Journals. The faculty members have attended several national and international conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops. Number of publications of Faculty of Dental Science is 269; Faculty of Medicine is 605 and Faculty of Nursing is 15. There is an ambience of looking deeper into various subjects and do in-depth research into every facet of the subject.
Forward Looking and Innovative Vision and Approach of Trustees
Issues such as educational attainment and access to higher education are central to the society must be maintained with focus on widening access. More broadly, Trust will continue to proactively contribute to the full spectrum of intellectual, economic, social and cultural life of India. The Trustees intend to develop workplace readiness balanced with lifelong skills and help to improve educational attainment and ambition particularly from communities that have previously been disengaged. The Trustee try to attain to harness the influence and expertise of the alumni network, honorary graduates, students and visiting scholars through sartorial networks and partnerships. Modernization of Education and Research
Modernization of higher education is deeply linked with increasing the interaction between business and the society at large. The operation of the Trust’s educational efforts is based on the high quality multidisciplinary research. It promotes research and academic education and provides higher education based on research. In the era of modernization there are various emerging changes which affect higher education are as ICT (Information and Communication technology): ICT in higher education is being used for developing course material, academic research, student enrolment, and teachers. ICT help to update knowledge according to the present scenario for the development in higher education. Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre (KIMS&RC) is established under the aegis of the Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust. Spread across a 30.76-acre campus on NH-45 (GST Road), the Institute offers programmes in Medical and Allied Health Sciences, supported by an attached teaching hospital.
The Institute houses a 650-bed multi-speciality teaching hospital equipped with intensive care units, operation theatres, radiology and imaging services, a 24-hour pharmacy, and specialised centres including infertility care, haemodialysis, joint replacement, and emergency and trauma services. These facilities support both medical education and patient care.

Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (KVIPS)Â is established under the aegis of the Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust. The Institute offers pharmacy education within the Trust’s multidisciplinary healthcare ecosystem and is located adjacent to Karpaga Vinayaga Hospital, a 650-bed multi-speciality teaching hospital that supports clinical learning and professional training.
The Institute is equipped with specialised pharmaceutical laboratories, a central instrumentation facility, a biotechnology laboratory, a machine room, a computer laboratory with internet access, a library, and a herbal garden with medicinal plant species. It also houses an animal facility approved by the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), New Delhi.
