ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

Karpaga Vinayaga Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences (KVIPS),

Pharmaceutical education works best when it isn’t confined to a classroom, and KVIPS was built with that in mind from the start. Established in 2023 by the Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust, the institute sits directly adjacent to Karpaga Vinayaga Hospital, a 650-bed multi-specialty facility with modern equipment and hi-tech infrastructure. That proximity gives B.Pharm students something most pharmacy programmes can’t offer: real clinical exposure right next door, not a distant tie-up hospital visited a few times a semester.
The institute is approved by AICTE, recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India, and affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. It offers both the B.Pharm degree, an eight-semester, four-year programme, and a D.Pharm diploma, along with a lateral entry route into the third semester of B.Pharm for students who’ve already completed D.Pharm.
Laboratory infrastructure here goes beyond the basics. KVIPS runs an exclusive central instrumentation room stocked with equipment most undergraduate pharmacy programmes don’t offer until postgraduate level, UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, Brookfield Viscometers, Tablet Punching Machines, BOD Incubators, Tray Dryers, Stability Chambers, Rotary Vacuum Evaporators, and Dissolution and Disintegration Test Apparatus, alongside dedicated scientific laboratories, a machine room, and a biotechnology lab. Students learn to actually operate the instruments the pharmaceutical industry runs on, not just read about them.
Campus life is built around more than lectures. The institute maintains a library stocked to international standards for students, faculty, and researchers, alongside sports facilities, a gym, transportation, secured accommodation, and a cafeteria. Structured programmes for interpersonal and employability skills round out the academic training, preparing students for the practical side of working in pharmacy, not just the technical side.
As a constituent institution of the Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Group, KVIPS Is supported by a broader educational ecosystem that includes leading institutions in medicine, dentistry, nursing, engineering and emerging sciences; giving students access to a wider academic and clinical ecosystem than a standalone pharmacy college could offer.
