General Eligibility for Undergraduate Programmes
Undergraduate admission across KVELL's Engineering and Technology programmes, and most Emerging Sciences programmes, starts with a pass in the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) examination or its equivalent from a recognized board. For engineering and most science-based programmes, this means Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, or Biology as an optional third subject, depending on the specific course. Some Emerging Sciences programmes, particularly those with a stronger health or life-sciences focus, require Biology or Mathematics specifically alongside Physics and Chemistry, so it's worth checking the exact subject combination a given programme expects rather than assuming any science stream automatically qualifies. Admission to undergraduate engineering programmes primarily follows Tamil Nadu's single-window counselling system, based on Class 12 marks and the resulting merit rank, with a separate Management Quota pathway also available for direct admission outside that process. Undergraduate Emerging Sciences programmes generally follow a similar merit-based route tied to Class 12 performance, since most of these are newer, specialized programmes without a long-established entrance exam of their own.

Postgraduate eligibility depends heavily on the specific specialization, but a consistent pattern runs across most programmes: a relevant bachelor's degree from a recognized university, in a discipline connected to the postgraduate course being applied for. For engineering postgraduate programmes, this typically means a B.E., B.Tech, or equivalent degree in a related engineering discipline, often assessed through a valid GATE or TANCET score depending on the programme. For Emerging Sciences postgraduate and integrated programmes, eligibility generally draws from science, life sciences, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or health sciences backgrounds, again depending on how closely the postgraduate specialization relates to a student's undergraduate discipline. Management programmes like the MBA typically require any bachelor's degree from a recognized university, along with a valid entrance score such as TANCET or an equivalent recognized test, while MCA admission generally expects a bachelor's degree with an adequate mathematics or computing background.
Lateral Entry and Alternate Pathways
Students who've completed a diploma or a B.Sc. in a relevant discipline don't need to restart their education from the first year. KVELL's Lateral Entry pathway allows eligible diploma holders and B.Sc. graduates to join directly into the second year of most undergraduate engineering programmes, based on the relevant subject background from their prior qualification. Some Emerging Sciences programmes with integrated UG-to-PG structures also offer flexible entry and exit points, allowing students to exit with a degree at an earlier stage or continue through to the full postgraduate qualification, depending on the specific programme structure.
